Dr. Giorgio Previati

Giorgio Previati received a Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering (cum laude) in 2002 and a Ph.D. in Mechacnicl system Engineering (cum laude) in 2006 from Politecnico di Milano. He is currently an Associate Professor with Politecnico di Milano in Machine and Vehicle Design. His research interests are focused on the optimal design of lightweight components and mechanical systems. Research activities also include ground vehicle and vehicle subsystems design and testing, structural and multidisciplinary optimization, and material modeling. He contributed to the development of a series of test rigs for the measurement of inertia properties and sensors for force and moment measurement. He also worked with the Research and Development Department of a leading farm tractor industry and he was a Visiting Researcher with TU Dresden in 2010. He has also been involved in several European and national grants with roles comprising task and work package leader. He is currently involved in European founded project related to autonomous driving with particular focus on vehicle-human interaction and safety. He is the author of over 100 peer reviewed papers, two books, and one patent. He has been awarded twelve international awards for published papers and for the best thesis in mechanical engineering for the year at Politecnico di Milano
